babyAt our facilities in Seattle and Tacoma, our staff use a comprehensive approach of counseling and case management, helping women in recovery overcome chemical dependency while gaining valuable parenting and life skills. The children are able to bond with their mothers while developing in a structured, safe, and enriched therapeutic child care environment. PTS offers:

  • Recovery and relapse prevention planning
  • Parenting through the stages classes and parenting planning
  • Mental health counseling and referrals
  • Domestic violence and sexual abuse counseling
  • Nursing services and health education
  • Coordination with CPS/DCFS and other court requirements.
  • Life skills training, including self-esteem and anger management
  • Education and/or GED completion assistance
  • Safe and secure housing after discharge

At PTS the impact is great. For mothers who complete the six-month program, we see lower relapse rates, better coping skills, and stronger families. Clients who received 30 days or more of treatment delivered significantly healthier newborns. As many as 85 percent of our clients who have had their children removed from their care have been reunited with their children as a result of entering our program.

"Thanks to all of you for an awesome program. I know in my heart PTS saved my life", said a resident as she left PTS to go to transitional housing.

These are the factors that Perinatal Treatment Services employs to help chemically dependent pregnant and parenting women stay clean, learn better parenting skills, and get their lives back on track.

While both our Seattle and Tacoma facilities offer programs for women 18 and older, our Tacoma site features an adolescent residential treatment program for young women Ages 12-17. The sixty day program is designed specially for a teenage population dealing with substance abuse. Tacoma Public Schools provides off-site education to this program.
